Overview: what is out there?

Field and Library methods have an orienting character. They are helpful in discovering and interpreting issues and opportunities. An open and explorative mindset is key; you need an eye for the whole. You shouldn't stop until you get a good overview over the situation.

Certainty: (how) does it work?

Lab and Showroom methods are for testing things. They are helpful in evaluating and validating parts of your solution to find errors early on. You need focus and a clear hypothesis. Try to be absolutely certain whether you are correct about things, or not.
